Modern HVAC Engineering within Historic Bosphorus Architecture<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Located on the Bosphorus waterfront in Ortak\u00f6y, \u0130stanbul<\/strong>, the Fehime Sultan and Hatice Sultan Mansions are historically significant late Ottoman waterfront palaces dating from the 1890\u20131900 period<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designed by the renowned Balyan family<\/strong>, the buildings reflect Empire and Neoclassical architectural influences together with Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following extensive conservation and reconstruction works, the 7,920 m\u00b2 historic site<\/strong> was transformed into a luxury hotel complex with approximately 40,046 m\u00b2 of total construction area<\/strong>, combining restored historic structures with contemporary underground and supporting facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Engineering Challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Historic building renovations are among the most challenging applications for modern mechanical systems.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike new-build projects, HVAC installations must adapt to the existing architectural fabric. Integrating contemporary mechanical systems while preserving original materials, proportions, decorative elements and historic character<\/strong>requires specialized engineering, careful coordination and appropriate product selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Fehime and Hatice Sultan Mansions, the objective was to provide modern standards of thermal comfort and airflow control while minimizing the visual impact of mechanical installations<\/strong> on the restored interiors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Architectural Air Distribution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gerhman provided a combination of air distribution and control solutions specifically selected for the architectural constraints of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KAPPA-LB Architectural Hidden Slot Diffusers<\/strong> were used where seamless integration into the restored interiors was essential, allowing the air distribution system to remain almost invisible within the architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KDI Displacement Diffusers<\/strong> provide low-velocity air distribution for enhanced thermal and acoustic comfort, while LINEA Linear Grilles<\/strong> complement the architectural air distribution concept in designated areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system is supported by CAV units<\/strong> for controlled constant airflow and BLUE-S dampers<\/strong> for airflow regulation and balancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, these solutions enabled modern HVAC performance to be integrated while respecting the architectural integrity of these historic Bosphorus landmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
